We’re on the lookout for a high-performing Business Development Manager to lead our commercial function and deliver on our growth strategy across both new and existing mental health supported living services.
This is a hands-on, leadership-focused role with responsibility for commercial strategy, and building strong stakeholder relationships to grow our footprint and deliver measurable impact across the UK.

🔑 What You’ll Be Doing
Lead, manage, and develop our Referrals, Assessment, and Admissions team, ensuring high performance, engagement, and accountability.
Drive occupancy growth and lead on new service mobilisation, identifying and acting on opportunities across mental health supported living models.
Build and nurture relationships with commissioners, local authorities, developers, and housing partners — including negotiating nominations agreements and resolving challenges proactively.
Oversee and contribute to bid writing and tender submissions, using market intelligence and service mapping to develop robust strategies.
Collaborate closely with Marketing, Finance, Operations, and People teams to deliver on shared organisational goals.
Act as a brand ambassador for Northern Healthcare, representing our values and vision to both internal and external stakeholders.
Leverage CRM and digital systems for effective reporting, decision-making, and generating business insights.
Produce and present business cases and growth strategies to the executive leadership team.
✅ What We’re Looking For
Proven leadership experience in a commercial, business development, or service growth role — experience in mental health or learning disability services is essential.
Track record of managing teams to exceed KPIs, deliver sustainable growth, and build strong stakeholder confidence.
Experience in new service mobilisation, from strategic planning through to operational delivery.
Confident in negotiating nominations agreements and engaging with commissioners and local authority stakeholders.
Strong understanding of the healthcare commissioning landscape, supported living models, and mental health pathways.
Excellent communicator with strong cross-functional collaboration and relationship-building skills.
Competent user of CRM systems, reporting tools, and project planning platforms.
Willing and able to travel nationwide to support services and attend key meetings.
