Compliance Manager – Supported Living & Mental Health
Reporting to: Head of Governance & Compliance
Salary: £40,000 – £45,000 + Car Allowance
Contract: Full-Time | Permanent | Hybrid
Location: Midlands & North of England (multi-site travel required)
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and highly knowledgeable Compliance Manager to join our growing organisation and support the delivery of safe, effective and high-quality Mental Health Supported Living services.
This is a key role within the Quality and Governance function, working closely with the Head of Governance & Compliance to strengthen and continuously improve governance frameworks, compliance systems, operational processes and quality assurance across the organisation.
The successful candidate will bring extensive working knowledge of CQC regulations, inspection frameworks and Adult Social Care compliance standards, alongside hands-on experience of conducting internal audits, mock inspections and service reviews within regulated mental health or supported living environments.
You will play a leading role in ensuring services remain inspection-ready, compliant, and focused on delivering outstanding person-centred care.
Key Responsibilities
Governance, Compliance & Quality Assurance
Support the Head of Governance & Compliance in reviewing, developing and strengthening current governance, compliance and quality assurance processes across the organisation.
Lead and conduct comprehensive internal audits, mock inspections and compliance reviews across supported living and mental health services.
Assess service performance against:
CQC Fundamental Standards
Adult Social Care legislation
Safeguarding requirements
Mental Health Act & Mental Capacity Act
Local Authority and contractual requirements
Internal policies, procedures and governance standards
Produce detailed audit and inspection reports with clear recommendations, risk identification and actionable improvement plans.
Monitor compliance trends, incidents, complaints and quality outcomes to identify risks and drive continuous improvement.
Ensure services maintain ongoing inspection readiness and support services to achieve and sustain Good or Outstanding CQC ratings.
Support the review and implementation of governance systems, quality monitoring tools and operational compliance frameworks.
Monitor regulatory updates, sector guidance and legislative changes, ensuring organisational compliance.
Service Improvement & Operational Support
Work collaboratively with Operational Managers and Service Managers to implement and monitor service improvement plans.
Provide practical support, coaching and guidance to services requiring improvement or enhanced oversight.
Track and monitor progress against compliance action plans, ensuring timely completion and accountability.
Support preparation for external inspections, commissioner audits and regulatory visits.
Promote a culture of accountability, reflective practice and continuous improvement across all services.
Training, Coaching & Development
Deliver compliance-focused training, workshops and guidance sessions to operational teams and managers.
Support managers to develop confidence and competence in regulatory compliance, governance and best practice standards.
Assist in reviewing and developing policies, procedures and governance documentation.
Promote safe, recovery-focused and person-centred approaches throughout service delivery.
What We’re Looking For
Essential Experience & Knowledge
Extensive knowledge and practical experience of CQC regulations, inspection frameworks and Adult Social Care compliance requirements
Significant experience within:
Mental Health services
Supported Living
Adult Social Care
Proven experience conducting:
Internal audits
Mock inspections
Compliance reviews
Service quality assessments
Experience supporting governance reviews, quality improvement and operational compliance processes.
Strong understanding of:
Safeguarding
Risk management
Mental Capacity Act
Mental Health legislation
GDPR and confidentiality standards
Excellent report writing, analytical and organisational skills.
Ability to positively challenge, influence and support operational teams.
Qualifications
Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health & Social Care (or equivalent) or willingness to work towards.
Evidence of continued professional development.
Mental Health training desirable.
