As Ellis continues to settle into her position, we’re thrilled to watch her grow and help shape the future of Northern Healthcare’s marketing efforts. Her journey so far is just the beginning of what’s sure to be a large impact.
What attracted you to Northern Healthcare?
Growing up with a non-verbal autistic brother and a mum who works in a specialised school for those with special needs, mental health and social care were 2 incredibly significant parts of my life. This made me subconsciously develop Northern Healthcare’s PROUD values and as a result, so attracted to the NHC team, their community spirit and track record championing people of all needs.
What inspired you to go into marketing and communications?
I have always had an interest in advertising and branding, which led me to my Bachelor’s degree, and then to a career in copywriting, trend forecasting and marketing strategy. What made Northern Healthcare my ideal next step was the opportunity to develop the PR side of my skill set, but mostly working in an industry I feel so passionate about and connected to. I may have only been at the company a month, but I’m already learning so much in a strong people and goal-focused team.
What strategies do you use to ensure consistent messaging across campaigns?
Before starting anything, you need to be familiar with and confident in the message you aim to get across and how it aligns with your brand values, then it’s about tailoring this message to the channels you're sending it down. I always put the eyes and ears of the audience to the forefront of my decision-making when developing campaigns whether it’s internal or external, as how they associate with your brand can lead to visibility and growth. My goal at Northern Healthcare is to highlight and showcase the exceptional work that team members do every day to improve the lives of others and strengthen communities, in hopes that Northern Healthcare is found by more individuals who need their services.
How do you relax outside of work?
My ideal end to a long day involves a relaxing walk either alone or with friends, a workout session, phoning family and a good TV show accompanied by something chocolatey.
What would you consider your greatest accomplishment, both personally and professionally?
Personally, it would be my recovery from a serious illness I experienced 2 years ago, which, with help from friends, family and medical professionals, took a great deal of mental resilience and self-compassion to overcome. But also, I believe in celebrating all the small wins life hands you, whether it’s a free coffee, a new friendship or moving to a different city. Once you live in gratitude, your whole mindset shifts.
Professionally, I’ve reached so many amazing milestones in such a short space of time. Creating international social, marketing and e-commerce campaigns, assisting with a Vogue advertisement, and establishing and managing the voice of brands across continents, it’s been a rollercoaster of a career so far. A particular highlight that’s rather insignificant to most - but special to me - is a blog I created at the start of my career that allowed my journalistic side to flourish. The social side of the blog was even recognised by celebrities like the Elbas and top designers like Helmut Lang.
I’m excited to see what achievements I get to experience next!
Where do you see yourself in 5 years' time?
I see myself continuing to grow at Northern Healthcare, contributing to its success and expanding its impact in the healthcare sector. I’m committed to building meaningful campaigns that not only raise awareness about the amazing work we do but also strengthen our relationships with stakeholders and the communities we serve. Ultimately, I want to play a part in helping NHC achieve its long-term goals while advancing my own professional growth within the organisation.
As Ellis reflects on her first month at Northern Healthcare, it’s clear that her passion for meaningful marketing is already shaping her approach. With big ambitions for the future and a desire to tell stories that matter, she’s set to leave a lasting mark.
We’re excited to see how Ellis’ journey unfolds and the positive impact she will continue to bring to the team and beyond.
